Bayshore Beautiful

The Bayshore Beautiful neighborhood is located in South Tampa. Its boundaries are El Prado Boulevard to the North, Virginia Park to the West, Ballast Point to the Southeast, Sun Bay South to the Southwest, and Bayshore Boulevard to the East. Most of the homes in the Bayshore Beautiful neighborhood were built in the early 1920’s. The area features homes that are very consistent in character.
You can connect the history of this neighborhood back to the Henry B. Plant Hotel. Plant insisted that Lafayette Street (Kennedy Boulevard) be extended by half a mile to the river and that a bridge would be built which gave access to what is now South Tampa to his luxury resort. It took a considerable amount of time for the Bayshore area to become popular, as it was considered far too wild for inhabitation. It is now one of the most scenic and desirable of the South Tampa neighborhoods.
Residents of Bayshore Beautiful have access to all of the amenities of Tampa Bay. The South Tampa network of communities affords an abundance of opportunities for dining and shopping. Restaurants include fine dining options, casual fare, as well as cafes and coffee shops. You’ll have no problem finding whatever suits your mood. Shoppers will delight in quirky boutiques, antique shops and well known and loved retail chains. Between Bayview and Wallcraft Avenues on MacDill Avenue, there is a small district of bars, cafes, and shops. This area is considered part of the expanded definition of Palma Ceia Design District, even though it is outside of Palma Ceia’s boundaries. Hyde Park Village is close by and residents will enjoy spending an afternoon in this newly renovated outdoor ‘mall’, with its shopping and dining options. Hyde Park Village is also home to a monthly outdoor fresh market.
Perhaps the most notable feature of Bayshore Beautiful is the scenic Bayshore Boulevard sidewalk. The world’s longest continuous sidewalk offers beautiful views of the grand homes which line Bayshore Boulevard, stunning sunsets, and the downtown Tampa skyline.
Schools for the Bayshore Beautiful neighborhood are Ballast Point Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, Coleman Middle, Madison Middle, Plant High and Robinson High.
