Looking to build your own home? It’s one of the most rewarding processes to experience.
To have a home built specifically for you and your family is an incredible feeling. The connection you’ll have with your home will be much stronger than other homes you’ve lived in.
But as you begin the journey, you’ll realize you are faced with an endless amount of decisions. First, choosing a city.
Once you narrow it down to a specific lot, you get to choose what type of home to build. Custom homes, semi-custom homes, spec homes, and many other options are available for different budgets and goals.
Many in Florida are choosing to build semi-custom homes. Wondering if semi-custom home design is right for you? And what are the benefits of semi-custom homes? Keep reading to find out.
Home Building Options
So you want to move into a brand new house, right? There are a few different paths you can take.
A spec house is one where the builder has designed and built a new home. They choose all, or at least most, of what goes inside, such as appliances, flooring, countertops, and the floorplan. Little or no feedback is provided by the homebuyer.
A custom home is one where the home buyer works with the builder to design and construct a one-of-a-kind home. The buyer describes their vision and the builder does their best to make it happen.
But there’s another option, somewhere in between those 2. It’s a semi-custom home.
What Are Semi-Custom Homes?
A semi-custom home is one where the builder and buyer work together to complete the home. As the buyer, you’ll still get to choose your lot. Semi-custom home builders will usually have a set of floorplans that buyers can choose from.
After that, the buyer can also choose additional home features, like a deck in the backyard. Buyers also get to select flooring, cabinetry, paint colors, and more.
This gives the buyer a chance to design a home to their liking without having to make every single decision that comes with fully custom homes.
Building a semi-custom home can be less stressful and possibly less expensive than a fully custom home. But still, your house will be unique to others built by the same builder.
At New Legacy Homes your home will be finished in the same timeframe as a custom home. Spec or semi-custom homes can often be completed in 6 to 9 months, while custom homes often take much longer but New Legacy still builds in 6 to 9 months.
